What are post-op lymphatic massages & why do I need them?

Post-op Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) helps to move fluid by gently pumping it back into the lymph vessels. Without MLD, excess fluid can evolve into fibrosis (a permanent hardening of the tissue) or a seroma (pocket of serous fluid).

How many post-op massages will I need?

There is no set number of massages; everyone heals at different rates. However, getting one massage per day for the first 7-10 days is suggested. After this, depending on your healing, you may need a massage 2-3 times per week. Over time, you will notice that the need for massages will diminish & aren’t needed as frequently.

Are Fajas available for purchase?

Yes, we currently have stage 2 and stage 3 high compression Columbian fajas (NO BUTT or HIP COMPRESSION), high compression shorts, and waist trainers available to purchase in our office.

What is a stage 1 faja garment?

Used directly after surgery & provides minimal to moderate compression. The material is much softer/lighter, which aids in swelling & healing of your skin from recent trauma. You will wear your stage 1 faja garment until you’re ready to transition to a stage 2 faja garment. Ideally, this is 7-14 days post-op.

What is a stage 2 and 3 faja garment?

Provides firmer compression compared to a stage 1 faja. Helps to mold & shape your body post liposuction, BBL or tummy tuck. The material has minimal stretch making it more difficult to put on and take off. Your stage 2 faja garment should be worn along with your abdominal board, back board and lipo foams for a minimum of 3 months. For best results, 6 months to a year is HIGHLY suggested.

What are Lipo foams?

Liposuction foams are used in conjunction with your Faja. It is positioned over lipo-treated areas to help evenly distribute compression and minimizes folds or creases from your faja. Additional benefits of Lipo foams include reduced bruising and swelling and decreased skin waviness.

What is an abdominal board and lumbar (back) board?

An ab board helps to flatten your tummy post liposuction or tummy tuck. A lumbar (back) board helps define and shape the lumbar area and helps in recovery. Constant use of these two boards allows the skin to effectively reattach to the muscle & help mold your body after surgery.

How long should I wear my compression garment, ab board, back board & foams?

We recommend wearing your compression garment along with ab board, back board & foams for a minimum of 3 months. For best results, wearing your faja for 6 months to a year is HIGHLY suggested.

My garment is becoming too loose what should I do?

Adequate compression is key after healing from procedures such as liposuction. A faja garment that is too tight is just as bad as a faja garment that is too loose. We offer faja sizing services if you are wanting to purchase a faja with us for better fitting and adequate compression. Also, you can take your faja garment to your local tailor to size according to your individual measurements.

How long after a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) can I sit?

We recommend not sitting after a BBL for at least 4-6 weeks. During this time, you can protect your newly transferred fat cells from potential damage by using a BBL pillow. Therefore, you can enjoy sitting comfortably without putting any pressure on your bottom if using the BBL pillow correctly.

Can I get non-invasive body contouring treatments although I haven’t had surgery?

Absolutely! Our non-invasive body contouring treatments can help improve the shape of the underlying tissue without surgery.

*At this time, we are only scheduling non-invasive body contouring appointments for clients who are currently receiving post-op massages at Body Contour and Recovery.*
